Gabrielle’s story
Atelier in the 11th arrondissement, morning light
I start every day the same way — strong coffee in my favorite mug, the one with the Eiffel Tower etched in gold. It's not just a mug, it's a reminder. Paris taught me that beauty is a discipline, and this little tower, standing tall against the black gloss, tells me to do the same. The coffee is hot, the day is mine.
Café de Flore, corner table
They know my order here. Noix de coco? Non. Just a noisette, in my own mug if they'll allow it. The tourists stare at the Eiffel Tower on my cup and then at the real one down the street. I smile. Both are mine in a way they'll never understand — one I was born under, the other I built.
Design studio, fabric swatches everywhere
Between the silk and the sketches, my mug sits like a monument. Black, glossy, unapologetic — like the best ideas. I run my finger along the Tower's outline and think about structure. A good design, like a good life, needs a strong foundation and the courage to reach up.
Tuileries Garden, afternoon
I take my coffee to go, in the Tower mug. The garden is full of people being beautifully, ordinarily themselves. A couple holds hands. A trans kid laughs with friends. I sip and think: this is what I design for. Not the runway. This. The real, radiant everyday.
Rooftop at golden hour
From up here, Paris is a watercolor. My mug catches the light — black gloss turning to amber at the edges. The Eiffel Tower on the cup aligns with the real one in the distance. For a second, they're the same size. Perspective is everything, darling. In fashion and in life.
Midnight, kitchen table, sketches
It's 2am. The city is quiet. My mug is empty but I hold it anyway — the weight is comforting. I'm sketching a new collection and the Tower keeps appearing in the margins. Not as a cliché, but as a promise. Aim high. Build to last. Shine, even in black.
Gare du Nord, waiting for the Eurostar
Travel mug? Never. I bring the real one, carefully wrapped. The Tower mug has been to London, Milan, New York. It's my portable Paris. When I'm far from home, I drink from it and remember who I am: a trans woman from Paris who built a brand on refusing to disappear.
Community center, workshop with young designers
I bring a box of these mugs for the students. 'Design something that tells your story,' I tell them. A young trans girl holds hers like it's precious. 'The Tower is strong,' she says. 'Like me.' I have to turn away because I'm crying. This is why I do it.
Rainy day, window seat
Paris in the rain is my favorite. The mug is warm in my hands. The Eiffel Tower on black looks like a beacon in the storm. I think about all the times I was told to be smaller, quieter, less. I drink my coffee and watch the rain. I am still here. I am still shining.
New Year's Eve, friends gathered
We toast with champagne, but I keep my mug nearby. It's seen every version of me — the scared kid, the determined designer, the woman I am now. The Tower doesn't change. It just stands, lit up, beautiful. Like the best parts of us. Happy new year, my love. May you always rise.
